FAQ

  • What is Panhellenic?

The Elon Panhellenic Association is the governing body for all nine of our National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities on Elon University's campus. When new members accept a bid from these chapters, they automatically become a part of this incredible community, regardless of their chapter affiliation. The council is led by an executive board consisting of eight positions. Together, we are committed to relationships built on trust through transparency, accountability, and mutual respect. We work to foster a healthy Panhellenic spirit and encourage a campus- wide sisterhood of friendship.

  • What is recruitment?

Panhellenic recruitment is the process a woman goes through in order to determine if she wants to be affiliated. The process begins with meeting all nine chapters and learning about their respective philanthropies. On the second day, your list is narrowed down to six chapters (or less) and you learn about each chapter’s sisterhood. On the last day, you return to your top wo choices (if invited back) and decide which chapter is ultimately the best for you. It is on the following day that women may be offered a bid to join an organization.

  • When does recruitment take place?

Unless otherwise stated, recruitment normally takes place during Fake Break. This is the few days given to students between the end of J-Term and beginning of Spring Semester.

  • How much is it to be in a sorority?

Dues for every sorority differ. If looking for a specific chapter, take a look at their page for exact/approximate dues paid.

  • What is COB?

COB stands for Continuous Open Bidding, an informal membership recruitment process during which bids may be extended and accepted at any time during the school year other than during primary recruitment. However, not all chapters participate in COB.
